So where do you go when you would like a glass of wine and something light to eat? Especially if it is late or you are feeling crunched for time?

The answer: Sarasota Vineyard. We arrived at the Tampa airport on an early evening flight from Boston. We were driving home to Sarasota and wanted to get a quick bite, have a glass of wine, and unwind from the trip. We decided Sarasota Vineyard would be just the right spot. It was!

Sarasota Vineyard has an extensive selection of wines and a unique display and dispensing system for such. You can purchase an electronic wine card, which works just like a debit card, get a wine glass, browse the wine selections offered, and select the wine you would like to try and even the size of the serving. It sounds more complicated than it really is!

Since we have visited on prior occasions, we were already prepared with our electronic wine cards when we entered the bistro. We requested a couple of glasses and had our 1st glass of wine before the menus arrived at the bar. Now that is quick self-service! We settled down with the menu and ordered the following:

The Petite Filet: Tenderloin of beef served with roasted potatoes $10.95
Cedar Salmon en Papillote: Cedar salmon and roasted potatoes $9.95
House Salad: Mixed greens with vinaigrette $3.00 with Bistro meal
Assorted Truffles: White, milk, and dark chocolate $7.95
Flourless Chocolate Cake: $6.95

Although the filet was a tad salty, we found the food to be prepared well, quickly served, and very nicely plated.

The entire concept behind this restaurant is unique. It borrows some from the traditional French bistro and serves it up in an upscale up to date version. It is perfect for sampling either a wide selection of foods or the wines which are the perfect accompaniment. Easily able to accommodate larger parties (there was a post election celebration going on the night we were there) or a quiet small dinner for two, Sarasota Vineyard has something to offer everyone. So if you are thinking, quick, good, wide assortment or unique types of dining, Sarasota Vineyard should be on your list.
