Pizza…Pasta…and a whole lot more….that is the Amalfi Café!

With a plethora of Italian restaurants in Sarasota, differentiation becomes a critical factor for a restaurant’s success.  One of the new Sarasota Italian restaurants, Café Amalfi, is rising to the challenge.

Located on the Trail very close to the Ritz Carlton, Café Amalfi has taken casual Italian dining and added some upscale touches to create a niche for their restaurant.  A cozy spot with painted wall murals, granite counters, arched doorways, tasteful colors and lighting, all add to the charm.  If this is a pizza place, then it is one of the nicer ones I have visited.

Even though Café Amalfi bills itself as a pizza and pasta place, there is more to the menu than just pizza and pasta.  In fact the menu also includes panini, salads, subs, chicken, veal, and eggplant entrees, steak, seafood and desserts.  It is quite extensive.  For our meals we chose the following:

House Salad:  Mixed greens served with balsamic vinaigrette $3.00 (dinner sized)
Fresh crisp, and cold greens; just the way we like it
Chicken Parmesan:  Chicken, mozzarella, and tomato sauce with a choice of salad or pasta $13.99
Succulent moist chicken; very tender
Pizza:  A large 18” cheese pizza with broccoli, $14.99 plus $1.50 per additional topping
Generous amounts of finely chopped broccoli served on top of a thin crust pizza; very good

Our bread service included the Café Amalfi garlic knots; a must try for garlic lovers. The restaurant serves a wide range of soft drinks, beer, wine, and of course Italian coffee.

So if you are in the mood for a very casual homemade Italian dinner, served in a delightfully charming cozy space, Café Amalfi is your spot.
