A “European-like” feel in the heart of Sarasota’s historical district.

Truly at the historical intersecting points of Burns Court/Herald Square and Laurel Park sits the charming Citrus Café. With its outdoor tables and umbrellas, the brick patio, the fountain, and the historical buildings, one cannot help but feel a little bit of Europe.

Primarily an outdoor lunch spot with some limited indoor seating, the Citrus Café serves lunchtime dishes with a creative twist. The menu offers classic and specialty sandwiches, small plates classified as starters, and platters which are primarily creative salads. For our meal we chose the following:

Hummus & Pita: As a starter $5.95
Citrus Spinach Salad: Baby spinach, strawberries, fresh orange, red onion, walnuts, raspberry, vinaigrette, & banana bread $7.95
Chicken Salad Sandwich: On rye, with lettuce, tomato, onion, and a side of potato salad $6.95

All of the food is fresh, bright, and served with style. It seems like each dish has a signature ingredient added to set it apart. Two examples, the addition of citrus to the spinach salad and the seasoning in the potato salad, just add that little something that makes you remember the dish.

A large selection of soft drinks, teas, coffees, beer and wine are available to complement your meal.

So if you feel like you need to get away, perhaps a trip to one of the most pleasant locales for outdoor dining in Sarasota is in order; The Citrus Café.
