Cafe Continental will be opening January 2012, at a new location, 2117 Siesta Drive, across from Dillards.
The name is French…the ownership British. The food is good!
Located in the heart of Siesta Key Village, Café Continental Patisserie serves breakfast and lunch everyday from 7am to 2pm. Tucked inside a small strip mall, Continental Café can be easily overlooked, but that would be unfortunate. The bright setting and simple décor are part of the charm, complemented with friendly attentive service.
We were doing a bike tour of Siesta Key and decided this would be a great spot to stop and have lunch. Offering baked goods, tea, coffee, salads, Panini’s, and traditional English Fish and Chips, the Continental Café’s menu is well suited for a casual breakfast or lunch meal. For lunch we chose the following:
House Salad: Hearts of romaine and tomatoes with green peppers, cucumber and onions. All salads served with hot French bread and home made dressings $6.30, with grilled chicken breast add $3.50.
Fresh, crispy vegetables with a good size portion of grilled chicken.
Mediterranean Tuna Melt Panini: Tuna, lemon mayo, celery, arugula and provolone cheese. Served with home made potato chips and a pickle. $8.99
Surprisingly large portion; crispy on the outside and warm gooey on the inside…just the right balance
Café Continental offers a selection of coffee, teas, and soft drinks as well as a limited selection of imported beers and wine to accompany your meal. As previously mentioned, we found the staff to be very pleasant and attentive.
Is it French or is it British? Well actually it is Café Continental and the food is good.
