First Street Chop House Recently Closed.
An historic location, memorable menu, and a warm wooden décor make the First Street Chop House a standout in downtown Sarasota.
Occupying a historically registered building from 1925, First Street Chop House serves a high quality selection of steaks and seafood in a most charming “Old World” styled setting. When we first arrived, we noticed the ivy covered exterior, rich wooden door, and large arched window; details which are interesting and inviting. We were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The room and the staff projected a traditional steakhouse feel and we were anxious to study the menu.
Although there are a number of items on the menu, First Street Chop House specializes in beef and seafood; two great combinations. For our dinner we chose the following:
New York Strip Steak: Hand carved Certified Angus New York Strip Steak charbroiled and served with house-made truffle demi-glace $ 23.95
Large, tender and juicy, cooked as requested, mouth watering flavor
Wild Blueberry Salmon: Wild Caught Salmon filet, grilled and served with wild blueberry compote and horseradish cream sauce $ 17.95
An interesting flavor combination of sweet and spicy…very nice
All entrees include a choice of house salad or soup and a choice of 2 sides: Baked Potato, Rice Pilaf, Chop House Fries, Asparagus Spears, or vegetable of the day. You can upgrade a side to Lobster Gemelli and Cheese for $4.95.
First Street Chop House offers a full bar featuring specialty martinis and cocktails, draft and bottled beer and a short but adequate wine list.
