Sarasota’s oldest restaurant still serving casual comfort…the name says it all!
Although there was a brief hiatus while a new building was being constructed, The Broadway Bar Restaurant has been serving local residents since 1925. With a distinct “horseshoe” shaped bar in one room, an open high ceilinged dining area and outdoor patio, The Broadway Bar Restaurant provides casual comfort for its regular and soon to be regular customers. Flat screen TV’s provide access to sports and news and a welcoming staff make you feel right at home. It is easy to understand how The Broadway Bar Restaurant maintains its longevity.
The menu offers a variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, and pastas; however The Broadway Bar Restaurant’s specialty is pizza. For our meals we chose the following:
Homemade Soup of the Day: Vegetable $3.50 cup, $4.95 bowl
Full of big pieces of vegetables, very tasty.
Shrimp Caesar Salad: Fresh grilled shrimp (blackened available) atop a fresh bed of romaine lettuce with Caesar dressing and croutons $18.95
Fresh, crisp romaine lettuce with plenty of shrimp.
CJ’s Hot Cuban Sandwich: Caribbean roasted pork, ham, salami, Swiss and American cheese with pickle. Served with choice of pasta salad or chips $8.95
An excellent Cuban; the perfect blend of meats and melted cheese gooey but not overdone.
Debbie’s Spicy Buffalo Chicken Wing Pizza: All white chicken meat, hot sauce, mozzarella and blue cheese $18.95 (large)
A crisp, thin “cracker crust” pizza with ample toppings; delicious; a Buffalo Chicken lovers dream.
There are ample selections of beer, wine, mixed drinks and soft drinks to accompany your meal. We found the wait staff to be friendly and attentive.
The Broadway Bar Restaurant certainly has a local feel and it is easy to see why it has become a “regular spot” for many. If you are looking for a very casual, consistent, and comfortable place for a lunch, dinner or a light meal, perhaps you might consider The Broadway Bar Restaurant.
