Why is it miserable to setup VPN

Anyone figure out CyberGhost? Or anything similar? I simply want vpn on
my VM. Please advise.

Wireguard is trivial to install and configure, and it’s in the mainline Linux kernel. Never heard of CyberGhost.

It’s not.

I highly recommend you use wireguard. Much more efficient (resources wise) and simple/easy to setup than OpenVPN or IPsec.

If you don’t want/can’t setup your own server, look for a provider that provides wireguard as an option.

I believe you can even set the client with NetworkManager. At least after you setup your wg0.conf. which should be just a few lines of text anyway, not rocket science.

Wouldn’t recommend ghostvpn… CyberGhost VPN Review: Does it Perform Well in 2025?

Just by the facts that it logs connections and who now owns it… I’d rather use my ISP

I found the proton VPN client to be extremely simple to install and use

Don’t know how it ranks against other vpn services

If you want to setup a vpn server:

He also has a script for wireguard.

Easy to use.

Windscribe has a easy to install package in .deb format that even gives you a gui if you’re looking for something easy.
