I’m looking to set up a Cloud VPN from our premises to GCP. Assuming that our internet connection, the path to the GCP region in question and our on-prem IPSEC hardware are not bottlenecks, what real world speeds have people seen on data ingress into GCP?
From the docs:
Each Cloud VPN tunnel supports up to 250,000 packets per second for the sum of ingress and egress traffic. Depending on average packet size in the tunnel, 250,000 packets per second is equivalent to between 1 Gbps and 3 Gbps of bandwidth.
But elsewhere it says:
Cloud VPN only throttles egress IPsec traffic. It does not throttle ingress traffic.
That leads me to believe that the sky’s the limit when it comes to transferring data into GCP (which is our usecase.)
I successfully tested a single VPN tunnel to around 750Mbit/s, but this was on a 1GBit link.
