VPN, Proxy, What can I use?

I’m looking for a way of accessing certain sites and services (both web and desktop apps) on campus however my school has blocked many sites and also has efforts in place to block VPNs. Most VPNs that I have tried simply don’t work and I can’t seem to find another way to get around this other than using my phone data which I would prefer not to.

I currently have a server running at home which I was thinking of maybe setting up as a proxy to allow connection to the websites and apps I need.

Is there a way for me to setup my server as a proxy for all the traffic on my laptop? Can you recommend something for me to setup? Is this even possible?

Setting up your home server as a proxy can work well for your situation. You could try using 9Proxy. It’s pretty easy to set up and should help you route your laptop’s traffic through your home server to bypass those campus blocks. Just set it up, tweak the settings to allow just your connection. Make sure to keep everything secure, though.
