VPN+Port Forwarding+DDNS Server

Hope this makes sense and that someone can help me out. I am admitted new to this, so bare with me!

I’ve successfully opened port forwarding on our internal network and used noip.com to create a DDNS server. We are using this to remotely control vMix panel builder. Added yourname.ddns.net as the IP/DDNS server and it works remotely. Perfect.

The issue we have been trying to resolve is using Speedify.

I added the same port number to the Speedify app (8088, by default from vMix panel builder). This doesn’t seem to work (pretty sure this is only included with a paid Dedicated Server)

I added the IP of the DDNS to the Custom IP section in Speedify. Not working

I tried grabbing the IP Speedify gives me and adding that the DDNS server but it also doesn’t seem to connect.

I know Speedify offers a Dedicated IP, assuming that means Static which may be a solution. Hoping to avoid that as its around $1000.

Maybe I am thinking about this wrong.

Thanks and hope someone can point me in the right direction. I submit support tickets outlining this to both Speedify and noip.com. Hoping for a cheaper solution than the 1k~ Speedify wants for a Dedicated server and Port Forwarding, but I’m also unsure if this will solve my issue.

TL;DR We are remotely controlling vMix productions using vMix Panel Builder using DDNS. It works GREAT. However, we want to use Speedify but IP changes seem to break this otherwise successful connection. We are open to using a different Bonding service, as that is really all we want Speedify for. Need the Port forwarding+static IP+channel bonding.

Thank you for any insights.

If their standard service doesn’t allow port forwards then you can set up a tunnel to a server on the Internet with a public ipv4 address and forward the port. (This is a common solution when you don’t have a public ipv4 address and can’t forward ports.) Assuming you can configure a tunnel inside the speedify tunnel.

I’m not familiar with this but I will look in to it. Looks over my head but I appreciate your response. Thank you

Hey, did you ever find a way around this? I’m looking to do something similar and I’m hoping you have a find

Nothing yet. For more context, NDI does one of the following.

  1. DOES NOT show up as a source
  2. Shows up, but is a blank, black input
  3. I can see source and select it, but it does not display a single application. Instead, it shows the entire Display (Display vs App capture)
  4. This happens in vMix, OBS, and NDI Studio monitor.

All four of these make NDI useless, unless I dedicate an entire monitor (for instance, previously I could just add an NDI source for a Browser, but now that browser has to be fullscreen on a dedicated monitor.

Happy to discuss this more in depth. I have a suspicion it is a network issue, despite no firewall, private networks. And this issue was not due to us changing settings, but rather the release of NDI 5 Tools, which we are also using.
