New to VPNs. I was thinking about installing a VPN on my router, so I can watch sky sports in the UK through my Apple TV. I’m a Premier league fan. Will this mess up my local apps like YouTube TV, Netflix, Hulu etc… should I have a separate router for this? Not sure how much of an issue this will be. I figured I better ask before I actually do it. Thanks in advance.
You could install the VPN on your phone and cast the matches to the TV. That way you won’t need to change your location for the other services. Sky may block some VPNs though.
Check some reviews of the vpn first. The one I use on my shield has an option where you can select which Apps it applies to, the ones you exclude will use the default internet connection.
I’m under correction, but I believe if you make the change on the router, that would blanket route everything connecting through the router to the VPN.
Since most router based VPN’s can let you customize device (MAC ID) routes maybe get another device to stream Sky through? DVD player, old Apple TV, Roku?)
