Hey
fff
I am currently trying to create a sophos VPN so I can surf via the sophos IP in the internet. however i dont seem to get it to work - I get it to work with “Softether VPN” however the connection is super slow then. I have 1GB up and down at Hetzner but only getting around 10 MB/s in Speed when using sofether.
When trying to setup sophos vpn I either dont get a connection at all or I get a connection but my whole internet access becomes blocked immediately when connected.

Anyone got a good tutorial for this?
Thanks!
Are you using th3 sophos connect client?
When setting up the vpn are you creating rules allowing the vpn to talk to the internet (a vpn to wan rule) also make sure to check or uncheck the use as default gateway depending on desired outcome. If using as default gateway (all traffic routes through vpn[much slower]) make sure dns is setup or it will also not allow internet.
Hello there, if you want to achieve this setup you must enable “Use as default gateway” on your Remote Access VPN settings (IPsec or SSLVPN)
On Sophos Firewall It would be under - For IPsec: Configure > Remote Access VPN > IPsec > Advance settings > Enable “Use as Default Gateway”
-For SSL VPN: Configure > Remote Access VPN > SSL VPN> General settings > Tunnel Access> Enable “Use as Default Gateway”
Hope this helps. Have a nice day and thank you for choosing Sophos
Cheers,

Hey
yeah, still doesnt seem to work. I now got it to work with the brilliant “Softether VPN” - the bottleneck was that there is a standard shaping policy applied on each user, thats why it was so slow ahahaha you should tell that somewhere!
