Hey everyone, I have a question that I’m trying to understand.
I have a router that has a vpn (Nord) installed on it that I use to connect my apple tv.
When I use the vpn and connect via wifi, I am able to use all the streaming services without an issue. However if I connect an ethernet cable from the flashed router to the apple tv, the vpn is detected and the streaming services don’t work.
I’m not well-versed in hardware, but I’m wondering why this could be happening. Perhaps the apple tv’s wifi vs ethernet ports have different security levels or protocols?
Really more curious about what’s going on than anything, but it would be kind of nice to use the wired connection if possible.
Hope someone can answer this question, thanks!
Perhaps your router configuration is different for your Wi-Fi network versus your Ethernet network
I had this same problem at some point and realized I had the appletv going into the modem (which is also a router) vs my good second router. Probably not your case!
The router setting differences mentioned are probably the case. I had to go in the opposite direction and have my Ethernet settings set to use all services outside of my country and set my wifi for certain services within my own country that didn’t play well with the “international settings”
Work perfectly independently so I would think if you match you should be fine.
Oh, huh hadn’t thought of that. that’s a good point. Will check that out later today!
But once you corrected that, it worked through the wired connection?
Ah, forgot to mention that I’m in europe, so some are region blocked!
Yes. However, I got tired of using the VPN through the router and just bought a fire stick max when I need to use the VPN.
