I was looking at the new cyber security bundle and I am always very weary of software that “fixes” up your system as they are normally just a Trojan. Is this legit?
No it is not, and no tool like it is.
Its not about them being a trojan or something like that. Its that they are utterly useless.
The improvements the promise usually don’t exist, or you could have done it with a few settings of your machine itself.
Same goes for TuneUP, CCleaner and everything else in that category. They provide no benefit, but have the danger of damaging your system to a point where only a reset will help it to recover.
And please nobody claim its user error, its in the nature of what this programs do. They mess too much with system files and the registry in an automated or semi-automated way.
Your registry doesn’t need cleaning anyway, you drivers you can just use cleanmgr which comes with windows (and has no danger to damage anything) your browser and whatever settings you could do by hand, your system startup too, defragmenting is not needed anymore since windows does ist (only on HDDs of course).
Stay away from those tools. When i still worked in a PC shop we mostly had people having issues caused by this kind of software. Online communities are FULL of people having issues by using that type of software.
It is not needed since it can’t do anything that has any effect that windows or the targeted application couldn’t do by themselves.
To be honest, i think programs like this generally useless.
Be careful about which sites you enter/ which programs you install etc. and you will be fine.
Yeah it seems like just straight up snake oil to me. The only reason i’m buying the bundle is for private internet access and vipre security.
private internet access
Is that good? First time i hear it. I generally use betternet for daily use (sad but wiki and imgur are blocked in Turkey)
Thats honestly the only reason one should have to buy it.
