So I have an MLB TV subscription but obviously can’t watch my local games. If I sign up for a VPN such as TunnelBear, would I be able to stream on my Mac the home games that are blacked out? Would any VPN work?
I use adfreetime for MLB.TV and NHL.TV. It is $1.99 per month, no commitment and has worked well for me for years. It is easier to setup than a VPN (you can just go to your router’s settings), and it doesn’t slow down traffic.
Anyone know if PIA works properly with MLB
Based on past seasons behavior, any vpn should work that puts you outside of the blackout area. I usually connect through Canada and can see everything. I have done this for the past 3 or 4 years and it works well with the exception of location aware devices like phones. Once the stream has started I can usually disconnect the vpn for better throughput. My router also has a built in vpn client so I can watch any game through PS4 or ROKU on my tv. I would suggest trying out any vpn on monthly billing before committing to a yearly plan.
The only device that I can’t get a VPN or DNS changer to work with is Android. With a VPN it still detects my current location, and the app doesn’t work with location services off. No issues with non-Android devices with Unlocater configured at the access point.
Can you confirm AFT is working for mlb today? I’m getting a blackout for the Dodgers, but that could be due to ESPN broadcast.
I have used TunnelBear in the past and its only $5 for unlimited so that is I was wondering. Thanks!
I’m not currently blacked out of any MLB games today, but I am blacked out of the Islanders Lightning (NHL), and I can access it fine with AFT on my PC. MLB and NHL use the same system, so should be working.
When you go to: https://adfreetime.com/service/, does it say “your DNS settings are correct”?
It appears to be working now. I’m getting Dodgers, and the Angels stream is going live. Whew! Thanks.
