Anyone successfully use Webex Calling through VPN? We followed this page to setup the rules https://help.webex.com/en-us/article/b2exve/Port-Reference-Information-for-Webex-Calling . But we are still seeing traffic blocked to IP’s using port 5075, which i believe need to be whitelisted. But those IP’s are not listed in that webex documentation, Spectrum Enterprise support is useless, as they just tell me to follow that link and they do not provide our VPN service so they cannot troubleshoot.
Spectrum Enterprise support is as useless as GE being unable to tell you why your milk spoiled despite the refrigerator maintaining temperature.
Why the hell WOULD they be able to help you in that situation? Unsure why you’d of even called them. Do you call your power company when one of your smart bulbs won’t turn on?
Perhaps call Dell and demand answers as to why your script won’t compile?
I called my grocery store and made a complaint when my dryer quit drying clothes.
If they provide a service to me and I need to create firewall rules should they not provide those rules that i need to build in order to use that service?
Correct but I should be able to build rules that would allow Webex calling to work. It works when i’m on any ISP, Spectrum, ATT, Tmobile etc. But when connected to my VPN Webex calling is not connecting.
I mean, you bought the dryer sheets there so why not?
" My service is working outside the VPN"
ISPs don’t support VPNs. VPN providers support VPNs.They don’t know why your VPN isn’t working nor as they aren’t the VPN, they don’t know what ports need forwarded, if any.
It is far more likely you can’t stay connected to WebEx due to latency and the speed of your connection on the VPN than it’s a forwarding issue. Your internet service provider is responsible to provide you an internet connection, which you state works and works with WebEx.
What did your VPN service provider say?
I’m pretty sure its a forwarding issue, although i can be getting confused here. I’m really just stuck in the middle…
“The only blocks I saw from 10.109.x.x during our last connection test are over 5075 to IP destinations 71.65.1.148, 66.61.188.148, and 24.33.252.148 that public record show are registered to Spectrum IPs.”
I might have missed this in my initial post, Spectrum is the provider for the Cisco Webex calling. So that is why I do believe we need to work with them as well to verify that these IP’s need to be allowed through.
So I don’t work for Spectrum but…when you are on the VPN, are you able to connect to other websites? The reason I ask is if it were a forwarding issue for your VPN through Spectrum, it would effect all traffic through the VPN not a specific service. Spectrum would only see the virtual tunnel in/out, not what is travelling through it. That’s one of the reasons most ISPs don’t support VPNs. There’s no way Spectrum could discriminate against certain kinds of VPN traffic but allow others through.
When I’m on my VPN everything works fine for the services and websites, that are allowed through the VPN.
I’m not referring to Spectrum as the ISP, Spectrum in this situation sold us the Webex so therefore we have to use Spectrum assigned Usernames to login to Webex. I understand that any random ISP should not need to support our VPN.
The obvious answer here is for us to allow that traffic on those 3 ip’s, but in order to do that I need to know that those IP’s are required for the Webx calling to work. as well as any others.
The only thing that does not work is the Calling, Voicemail and chats work fine through the VPN on the Webex App.
