Dial Up VPN with TP-Link ER605

I have been having problems configuring a VPN tunnel to a TP-Link ER605 router, the situation is that my client does not have a static public IP and is not willing to pay for one nor for a FortiGate device to simplify the work, I did the VPN tunnel configuration on my FortiGate 80F and I also configured the TP-Link router hoping that it could connect but I was not successful, which leads me to two questions:

Are these two brands somehow compatible in terms of VPN tunnel configuration?

If they are compatible, is it possible for it to work with Dial Up VPN mode or is it necessary for my client to have a static public IP for the connection to be possible?

Alternative method if you can’t find your answer:
It appears the device supports DDNS and is compatible with No-IP.com.
You could one of two things with this:

  1. create a free No-IP account and use the FQDN from Fortigate to TP Link. Every 30 days you have to log into No-IP.com and revalidate the DDNS link.
  2. Spend roughly $30 for the year and not have to log into the device each month.
  1. Charge your client your regular hourly rate to figure this out.

  2. Take your time figuring it out.

  3. Troubleshoot and test THOROUGHLY.

  4. Show them the cost difference between doing it the right way (static IP and fortigate on both ends) and doing it the wrong way (your services bill).
